New Bottom Line in Law

Ever hear "lawyer jokes" that assume that everyone in the culture understands that lawyers are selfish, materialistic, narcissistic and uncaring? That image may be extreme and distorted, and yet it reflects enough of a reality to help explain why many lawyers who entered the profession with high ideals and a desire to serve humanity find themselves a decade or two later considering leaving the profession altogether or withdrawing into a deep cynicism about their own earlier motives which they now dismiss as "naïve idealism."

Welcome to the Network of Spiritual Progressives' New Bottom Line in Law (NBL-L) Project.

Our goal is to build a network of lawyers, law professors, judges and law students who will challenge the prevailing assumptions and culture in the practice of law, legal theory, legal education, the operation of law in our courts and in our prisons, and equally important, the way that we've taken the dominant thinking in law allowed it to shape human relationships.
