On this page we will collect and make available resources about Baha'i faith holiday celebrations. Have you got something to share?
We need your help to make this happen. Do you have a special way of celebrating a holiday from your faith that you'd be willing to share with the Tikkun and NSP communities? If so, please click here and tell us about it.
Naw Ruz (The Baha'i New Year)
Although Naw Ruz is a tradition that has been observed by Persians, Zoroastrians and others for nearly 2000 years, it was also adopted by the prophet-founder of the Baha'i Faith -- Baha'u'llah -- upon the founding of this world religion in 1844.
Naw Ruz, or new year, falls on March 21. It is a time of spiritual, and earthly, renewal, as it is associated with the spring equinox (in the northern hemisphere).
The Baha'i New Year is preceded by a 19-day period of fasting from sunrise to sunset, during which Baha'is worldwide prepare spiritually for a new start to the year. The new year celebration is characterized by food, fellowship and fun!
